The property is located in Barcelona, occupying the entire penthouse floor of a building in Barcelona. The apartment is located in an area that allows you to enjoy unique views of the city and the sea from a privileged position.
The building, conceived from its origin as a residential building, had a spatial distribution that already suited the needs of the new owner. The main rooms are connected to the southeast and northwest façades, while the secondary bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry room relate to the interior courtyards, which in any case are very bright. The existing apartment not only adapted to the required program, but the size of the rooms was also ideal. It was only necessary to modify the layout of two rooms, which were joined into a single space.

Our intervention consisted primarily of giving each space the appropriate character according to the client’s personality. The intended use for the different rooms and the natural light according to their location were decisive in defining the aesthetic solution. The use of color was definitive in softening or enhancing the natural light entering through the windows, always seeking to create welcoming, comfortable, and cheerful spaces that convey the feeling of “like home, nowhere else.”



The great achievement of this renovation has been maintaining the original spirit of the apartment, built in the 1940s, while giving it a more contemporary touch. The client’s message was clear from the beginning: “I could move into this apartment as it is, but I think we can improve some things. The renovation should in no way make me feel like I’m in a new apartment.” The intervention achieved a complete renewal of the facilities while maintaining the volume and proportionality of each room, thus preserving the special elegance that characterized each space from its original conception.



Renovations are always much more complex than new construction, especially those that affect common elements. In this project, it was necessary to carry out structural reinforcements, modify sanitation facilities that affected other apartments in the building, and replace or alter the route of obsolete installations that served the apartment.
